Hello! I’m Ndeye!
I’m one of the Marketing Development Managers at Score Marketing, and have been working here for 6 months.
I work primarily with new employees and interns to develop their skills and help them learn and grow during their first few weeks on our team. Everyone here is a little different from one another, and I wanted to share my story with you!
I’m originally from Dakar, Senegal, which is on the west side of Africa. In 2007, I came to the United States with my two older brothers to have a better opportunity. At this point, I was only 16 years old! To look out for all of us, I definitely had to grow up fast.
When I first came to America, I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a year before coming to Cleveland in 2008 to attend school. I graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 2011, and I was so excited! It was a major accomplishment to finish High School. My parents have truly been the best support system I could have asked for, and I thank them for always believing in me. They actually came to Cleveland to watch me graduate, which was amazing.
I’ve grown a lot since I’ve been here, and have had my fair share of obstacles to overcome. What is the hardest thing I’ve experienced since I’ve been here? Being away from my family. It definitely isn’t easy being 4,431 miles from them, and having to be completely independent and self-sufficient.
Currently, I have three brothers here in America, with the rest of my family still being in Africa. This summer I will actually be going back to Africa for the first time in 9 years, and I am very, very excited! I’m looking forward to seeing my family and friends.
